Sigh, if only i hadn’t “felt bad” about only working 2 weeks and quit, i would’ve started the museum job and i might be able to see the phelps brothers! whyyyyy.
And yes. Sauce is my new fav hangout place! Cheap beers, good food, great environment, scenic view.
Just got back from probably one of my most favorite production of the year. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, adapted from the book by Haruki Murakami. This show is also its SouthEast Asia premiere. Well, I haven’t read the book but I will definitely go grab it at the bookstore soon. I thought I would have understood the show deeper if I’d read the book before though. Other than that, I was awed by the whole artistry, the combination of sound, acting, visual projections and puppetry. It was really amazing how they managed to put everything together. My favorite was Bora Yoon, the sound woman behind (well I guess I would say in front since she’s literally in front of the stage doing her very own mini performance) this whole show. The sound effects made it x10 more intense I swear. And I loved the how the puppets could portray the subconscious of the characters so well, wouldn’t succeed without such awesome manipulations by the puppeteer, which made some very subtle but representative movements. Also the visual projections were really really cool. The fish tank, wire meshes, paper were mediums used. Intense but pretty dark show i would say. Good stuff. My $110 ticket’s worth it.
Weight of Your Love - Nathan Hartono
You’re waiting for something, and know not the name.
It itches behind you but you stay the same.
You know that you’re empty. But you know you’re safe.
Tell yourself you’d wait for the one
You never fight! This war can’t be won.
You’re your own worse habit. Your very own stain.
But just you wait and see.
The weight of her love will just fall onto all your defenses and you’ll be weak.
So fast you can’t even stop to speak. Why try.
Chance upon her life.
The weight of her love overtakes every path that you walk on and take to heart.
Losing her is the most fearful part. So why?
It’s been quite awhile since I’ve opened my heart.
A little too long since the day it all started.
I’ve got to move on, cuz I feel the strain
Tell yourself you’ve made a mistake,
the age old story: oh how this heart breaks!
But you steel yourself, and soldier on.
I’d take a bullet before I take love.
I’d break your heart, before I think of
A new excuse, to run away
But just you wait and see.
The weight of her love will just fall onto all your defenses and you’ll be weak.
So fast you can’t even stop to speak. Why try.
Chance upon her life.
The weight of her love overtakes every path that you walk on and take to heart.
Losing her is the most fearful part. So why?
But know this.
You’ll be better soon
You owe this
To every broken heart in the room
